The Latest Updates
Hi, everyone! I don’t have a ton of updates this week. As you read, I spent most of last week at the hospital, either getting infusions or being admitted for round-the-clock care. I’m happy to report that I’m home with my husband and cats for the time being. I’m still struggling with nausea and vomiting, unfortunately, so we’re taking it day-by-day.
Our good news of the week - because of how hard it is on my body, my care team has decided to stop chemo and move onto surgery! We meet with the cardio thoracic and oncology teams on April 11 to find out the plan. We have a ton of questions for the team:
What will the surgery entail?
How long will I be in the hospital?
What hardware will be left to bind my chest plate back together?
Will I need to do chemo after surgery?
So, hopefully I’ll have those answers in the next week or two and will report back with more good news.
Weekly Prayer/Good Vibe Request
Please allow Katie and her care team to make the best possible decisions moving forward.
Please keeps Katie’s nausea and vomiting at bay.
Weekly Roundup
Song of the Week: I have been watching a bunch of life performances this week. Some favorites:
While My Guitar Gently Weeps at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. Prince is just … Prince.
Where Did You Sleep Last Night from Nirvana’s Unplugged set. Those last works from Kurt Cobain … woof.
I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston at the 1993 Billboard Music Awards. Vastly superior to her Grammy performance of I Will Always Love You (hot take, I know).
Heart’s cover of Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center Honors. Even Robert Plant is mesmerized.
Adele at the 54th Grammy Awards singing Rolling in the Deep. I would give literally anything to see her in Vegas.
Cat of the Week: Chrissy girl takes home the prize.
This week, I’m grateful for: Nausea meds, McDonald’s cheeseburgers, my cute husband and my cuter cats, jigsaw puzzles.
This week, I could have done without: The intense nausea.
How can I help? As always, the latest needs are listed on the meal train .
Love, always.
Katie

Good to hear you are back home. Lots of good basketball coming up. Glad you’ll be home to enjoy the games!
